Research computed from our own catalog
We track 8,462 compact refrigeration products with recorded price history. This is the entry point to what we compute from that data: the index, the method behind it, and the full series as a CSV. Every figure comes from prices recorded in our own catalog, and the methodology is documented and versioned.

Compact Refrigeration Price Index →
A matched-model, chain-linked index across 5 published categories — mini fridges, wine coolers, beverage coolers, compact freezers, chest freezers — covering 42 months and 7,712 products. Each month-over-month step is the median price change among products observed in both months, so catalog churn cannot move it.
Tracked but not published (below the 30-matched-model threshold): kegerators, upright freezers, counter-depth refrigerators. We disclose these rather than publish a series we cannot stand behind.
What the series is
Every figure is computed from price points recorded on each product’s own Amazon listing (NEW condition). This is a single-retailer series, not a measure of multi-retailer market pricing, and it is never merged with any other price series.
medianCents is a monthly level and is composition-sensitive; only the index describes price movement over time.
