Wine cooler collection
A wine cooler (wine fridge) is a temperature-controlled cabinet that holds bottles at a steady serving or cellaring temperature — warmer and more humidity-friendly than a food fridge. Single-zone units keep one temperature for reds or whites; dual-zone units run two independent zones so you can store both correctly. Buying guide
A wine cooler is judged on capacity, zones, and how gently it holds temperature. Match the machine to whether you are chilling for tonight or storing bottles for the long term.
01
A single-zone cooler holds one temperature — fine if you mostly drink reds or mostly whites. A dual-zone cooler runs two independent compartments so reds and whites (or serving and storage) each sit at their own temperature.
02
Advertised bottle counts assume standard Bordeaux bottles. Wider Burgundy or Champagne bottles take more room, so a "24-bottle" cooler realistically holds fewer of those. Check shelf spacing if you keep odd shapes.
03
Compressor coolers pull down further below room temperature and cope better in a warm room, with a little vibration. Thermoelectric coolers are quieter and vibration-free but only chill a fixed amount below ambient — better for a climate-controlled room.
04
A freestanding cooler vents from the back and needs clearance. A built-in (front-venting) model is designed to sit flush under a counter — do not enclose a freestanding unit in cabinetry or it will overheat.
Questions
As a general guide, reds show best around 55 to 65°F and whites around 45 to 50°F, while long-term storage sits near 55°F. A dual-zone cooler lets you hold two of those ranges at once; a single-zone cooler holds one setting across the cabinet.
A single-zone cooler maintains one temperature throughout, which suits a collection of mostly one style. A dual-zone cooler has two independently controlled compartments, so you can serve whites cold in one zone while cellaring reds warmer in the other.
Only if it is a built-in / front-venting model. Freestanding wine coolers exhaust heat from the back and will overheat if boxed into a cabinet. Confirm the model is rated for built-in installation before enclosing it.
